GIS and Computer Section of the Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI)
is the most recent development to meet the challenges of the new
era of Information Technology in the country. This Brach was
established in 1998 with the assistance of International Centre
for Integrated Mountains Development (ICIMOD).
IN 2003, the GIS Section was provided with necessary hardware
and software by the Forestry Sector Research and Development
Project of the Federal Government. In 2013, the GIS Lab was
further strengthened by the Carbon Stock Assessment Project with
provision of latest computer systems, high resolution satellite
imageries and trained manpower.
