Introduction/General
The rhizome and roots of many plants belonging to the genus Ferula and family Umbellifereae, exude a kind of latex which on drying forms an oleo-gum resin which is called Asafoetida, Hing (Urdu), Anjudan (Kashmiri), Anguzeh (Persian) or Hiltut (Arabic). Vastly used in Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. Author described the different methods of its collection in very detail due to its importance.
