Introduction/General
Teak was introduced into this area by Heinig and the other pioneer foresters of Indo-Burma, and it was from 1873 onwards that it has been systematically planted. Although the East Pakistan teak has established itself in the market and is considered as one of the best specimens in the world records for teak, Chittagong Hill Tracts, where it is grown on the most extensive scale in the plantations, is not its natural habitat.
