Abstract/Summary
Introduction/General
Both the forestry and agriculture must go ahead together, hand in hand. In Nature perhaps the vegetation cycle runs thus:- Forests___Agriculture___Desert___Forests. It is up to the man to hasten the process towards formation of a desert or arrest it when he likes. The ideal would be, and perhaps we can delay the formation of a desert indefinitely, if we were to sustain agriculture with the aid of forestry. We must, therefore, devise a balanced plan of rural economy and stick to it. Any further injudicious encroachment of agriculture over forestry will teach us the same lesson which other nations have already been taught. In fact signs of the calamity that may befall this country, are already visible in several districts of the Punjab. We must have more irrigated plantations.
