The vegetable kingdom has a charm of its own not only for scientific workers but for every lover of Nature. The lack of a reliable polyglot dictionary of Pakistani (or for that matter Indian) vernacular names of plants is badly felt by all those who have anything to do with plants and plant products. Names of plants in Pakistani and related languages are to be found scattered in many botanical treatises, memoirs, catalogues, journals and such publications. There is no doubt that there are many difficulties in finding out with a good measure of accuracy the right names of many plants in vernacular languages. |
