Title A Method for the Determination of Free Iron Oxide in Soil & Clay
Author(s) Dr. A. Karim
Designation Dacca University, Pakistan.
Abstract/Summary
Introduction/General
The present paper deals with the determination of free iron oxide in soil and clay and a new method for the determination has been proposed for further examination in other parts of the globe. Although the method is essentially a modification of Jeffries’ (1941, 46) original method it stands as by far a better technique to meet the requirements of critical studies. The method is based on the reduction of Fe2O3 by nascent hydrogen at the room temp., at pH-3.5 for one hour by one single treatment only. It is claimed that as long as the sample does not contain more than 7% iron as Fe2O3 --- the method works perfectly satisfactorily.
